AS3 Task 4 (Final Draft) Final Evaluation

AS3: Task 4 (First Draft) Final Evaluation

Introduction:

The method I used for my audience feedback is that I selected a focus group and got three of my friends to watch my final advert and I asked questions about what they thought of it the advert and what they liked about it and asked if they were tempted to buy the product after watching the advert.

The questions that i asked were:
  • Would you be tempted buy the product after watching the advert.
  • Advantages of the advert.
  • Did the advert meet its target audience

Section One:

The methods I used to obtain the information from the audience was a focus group. I first started off recording my focus group to record important information/data that was crucial to my advert. The reason why a focus group was my desired choice of gaining audience feedback was because I could gather more in-depth data (qualitative data) so that I can understand what my audience felt about the video and then therefore I can ask further questions based on the data I have already gathered. I asked my focus group what did the advert make them feel whether it was entertaining more interesting etc and also how it could have been improved.

Section Two:

With my focus group, I asked what they thought of the advert we created. The focus group said that it was very easy to understand and also entertaining so that people can remember the advert therefore remember the product we are advertising too. The focus group also said that the advert could have dramatically been improved in terms of the dialogue and the acting skills, Danielio also mentioned that it was hard to hear the actors voices and that the advert could have been recorded much better. I was surprised by the some of the responses of the advert, for example when Danielio said that the advert was very entertaining even though the advert quality was could have been made much better. I'm happy with my audience feedback as my focus group gave me really good answers and the feedback has showed me how can improve my advert, for example spend more time on the dialogue and don't rush the recording so much and spend more time developing the advert so I can improve all aspects of the advert.

Section Three:

I believe that the advert was successful as I believe at the end of the task, we created an advert that was entertaining and easy to understand to all ages and our audience feedback reflected upon that. The improvements I would make on this advert is definitely spend a lot more time on the overall planning of the advert to make sure we can record and act a lot more confidently. I also believe that we should spend more time on actually editing our video using computer software so that the overall quality of the advert would improve. I do agree with the results of the audience feedback, looking back now, I acknowledge the problems of our advert but also believe the group as a whole still created an entertaining advert that was very easy to understand.

Section Four

I do believe that our advert was technically good because despite a few problems within the video, our advert still targets the target audience very successfully. The one good thing about our advert was that the quality was pretty good, there wasn't any blur as the advert didn't require any fast camera movements and overall the visual quality of the advert was good. The one good thing I like about my advert was that it doesn't take a genius to understand that the advert is about a phone, more specifically the phone speakers, in the video we used the phone's speakers to play a song out loud which was the main action of our advert. I strongly believe that this advert is successful in advertising and selling the product (Nexus 6P), we made an advert that is funny and entertaining so that our audience can remember the product the Nexus 6P. Due to our low budget we couldn't afford a camera to create an advert that involves scenery etc, so making a low budget entertaining advert was a good idea.

Conclusion:

I'm very happy with my finished advert and I believe we have achieved our aim. I believe we have done this because our focus group reflected on both, bad and good points of the video, so now we understand what we have to improve on for the future and also that despite the low budget we had for filming, we created an advert that was funny and also memorable

Improvements:

Better Audio
Better Dialogue
Better Acting
More action in the video

AS3: Task three: Sources of Information

AS3: Task three: Sources of Information

For this task, our group needed to take precautions, this is my pre-production document.

Risk Assessment

Our Risk Assessment allowed us to acknowledge the potential accidents that could happen during the time of our filming and planning, having this Risk Assessment allowed us to also take more care in our actions to make sure that everything went smoothly without no injuries or equipment breakage. Tripping over equipment can be dangerous as the equipment costs money and we cannot afford to destroy the equipment rented to us along with injuring one of our group members which would inevitably lead to us postponing the filming causing a delay.  We could of improved on our Risk Assessment by adding more potential risks, however the main risk was the tripping over the equipment which was assessed carefully by our group.

Contingency Plan

Our Contingency Plan was meant to identify potential problems and how we could prevent these problems with a solution. Unfortunately on one of the days of our filming, our director Basra fell quite ill just before we were going start filming, he had been sent home and we had to postpone our advert for a few days, using our contingency plan we made sure we had contacted everyone in the group to quickly inform the members the best and fastest possible way of filming ASAP. On the final day of shooting our advert, we decided instead of filming outdoors, we would change our original plan and film indoors, this was because the weather was raining and we couldn't afford to damage our equipment which is not waterproof. Our contingency Plan helped us a lot with this situation as we assessed it was raining outside therefore we all agreed that we will film indoors so that we can finish our advert with no further interruptions.

Production Budget:

Our Production Budget was very useful because it allowed me to identify the costs of all the equipment needed to film our advert. Our production Budget was very brief and it could have easily been improved by adding more specific data such as brand names and types of cameras etc as we could have bought and rented the wrong equipment which would have meant we have wasted money and more time buying equipment that wasn't suitable for the advert we had in mind. Our Production Budget graph was also very useful as we could look around different sites and compare the prices of all the different equipment and to see which was the cheapest and most suitable for the advert.

Costume and props:

This document was to help the group identify what everyone was going to wear and what kind of setting we was going to set for advert, it didn't matter what we were wearing as the advert is all about the phone and dressing wasn't much of an issue. This document also helped remind us what to bring on the day of the recording which was the phone itself (Nexus 6P) and the earphones we were going to compare the phone speakers with originally.

Shot List:

The shot list document is used to organise where the shots are going to be taken place in and also how many shots we were going to film. This is very useful to the group as we can look at this list and see clearly what order we will be filming in. We also added a description to quickly lay out what we were planning to do in the scenes that we were shooting.

Production Schedule:

The production schedule listed everyone involved in our group. The call sheet wasn't really needed as we all had each other's numbers anyway, so the column wasn't required. For this document, nothing really needed improvement.

AS3: Task two: Screening and Focus Group

My Focus Group and Screening

Daniel, Basra and Danielio watched my advert, they believed it was very funny and entertaining and will appeal to many audiences such as teenagers etc who was our target audience. Danielio mentioned that the actors are the same age as the target audience so that would appeal to the youth and makes the phone (Nexus 6P) relevant to the younger generation. The group said that the previous adverts they watched were often more confusing to follow than my advert and that my advert was very good because it was so simple and that anybody can really understand the context of this advert. The focus group all agreed on that the audio was a bit dodgy as it was sometimes hard to interpret what the actors were saying because it was often quiet.

The questions I asked the group during the screening was:

Q1. 0ut of 5, how much would you rate this advert in terms of reaching it's target audience.

Basra = 3
Danielio = 4
Daniel = 3

Q2. After viewing the advert, how tempted of 5 would you be to buy this product (Nexus 6P)

Basra = 4
Danielio = 3
Daniel = 3

Proposal
Prepared by
Reece Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Basra Khan, Satveer Kaur

The product that my team and I planned to advertise is a mobile phone. The USP of our product is that it is the high quality speaker. The speakers are the main selling point of our product so as a group we decided that the speakers will be main unique selling point of our product. We will use the style of humour to make the viewers remember our product and advert.

Potential problems and how to overcome these problems:

Unwell cast will lead to postponing the filming date until they are better.

Weather may bring rain which will interrupt and prevent us from filming as our equipment isn't waterproof.

To prevent both the issues from occurring we would have to re-schedule our filming to another day.

As a group, we must tell all the members to prepare for a certain day to ensure that they are in so we can film.

If the raining continues, we will be forced to film indoors instead of out.
